Vehicles
Capacity — Vehicles is the car-deck side of capacity: lane-metres, weight and slots, so a vehicle is booked and loaded against what the deck can actually take.
All modulesBORA Systems is a ferry operations platform built in Tallinn, Estonia — 33 modules across 6 functional categories, each on its own microservice with a local API. Certified to ISO/IEC 27001 and GDPR-compliant. As of 2026, in daily service across three regions: the Baltic, the Channel Islands and the Persian Gulf.
What does it do?
Vehicles describes what the car decks can carry — in lane-metres, weight and slots — so a vehicle booking is measured against real capacity, not a rough count. It is the vehicle counterpart to passenger Inventory.
Because the deck is described in the units vehicles actually consume, a full car deck is genuinely full: an oversize vehicle is caught at booking or the gate, not discovered on the ramp.
How does it work?
Describe
Each deck's lane-metres, weight limit and slots are described per vessel.
Book
A vehicle consumes lane-metres and weight, not just a headcount.
Measure
The vehicle gate measures against these limits before loading.
Reflect
Remaining car-deck capacity reflects what has actually driven aboard.
What does it connect to?
Vehicles is read by Dynamic pricing (car-deck) and the vehicle gate, and described per vessel in Vessels.
Vehicles exposes a local API so an operator's own tools can read remaining car-deck capacity.
What are its limits?
What it deliberately does not do:
- Vehicles measures for loading and capacity; it is not a legal weighbridge certificate.
- Vehicles describes car-deck capacity; passenger capacity is Inventory's job.
Frequently asked questions
How is a vehicle booked?
Against lane-metres and weight, not a simple count, so a full deck is genuinely full.
What catches an oversize vehicle?
The gate measures against these limits before loading.
Is this the same as Inventory?
No. Vehicles is the car deck; Inventory is passengers.
