Dynamic pricing
Revenue — Dynamic pricing sets rates for deck spaces, cabins and services by route, date, season and vehicle class, and changes them without touching the schedule or reissuing tickets.
All modulesBORA Systems is a ferry operations platform built in Tallinn, Estonia — 33 modules across 6 functional categories, each on its own microservice with a local API. Certified to ISO/IEC 27001 and GDPR-compliant. As of 2026, in daily service across three regions: the Baltic, the Channel Islands and the Persian Gulf.
What does it do?
Dynamic pricing is where a fare is decided. It sets rates against the things that actually vary — the crossing, the calendar, the vehicle class — and applies them live, so a change to a rule does not disturb the schedule or the tickets already in passengers' hands.
The separation is the point: the rule changes, the record does not. A passenger holding a ticket keeps their price; the next passenger gets the new one.
How does it work?
Rule
A rate is defined against route, date, season or vehicle class — not typed in per sailing.
Vary
The same rule produces different fares by crossing, calendar and class, automatically.
Class
A car, a van and a lorry price differently against the same deck, from their class.
Apply
A rule change applies to new sales immediately; issued tickets and the schedule are untouched.
What does it connect to?
Dynamic pricing prices against Inventory and feeds Sales, GDS and the booking console.
Dynamic pricing exposes a local API so an operator's revenue-management tools can read or adjust rules.
What are its limits?
What it deliberately does not do:
- Dynamic pricing applies rules; it does not itself forecast demand — a revenue-management system can drive it through the API, but the forecasting is not in this module.
- Dynamic pricing does not reissue or reprice a ticket already sold; changes apply forward, by design.
Frequently asked questions
Does changing a price reissue tickets?
No. A rule change applies to new sales; issued tickets keep their price.
Can it price a lorry differently from a car?
Yes, by vehicle class against the same deck.
Does it forecast demand?
No. It applies rules; a revenue-management system can drive it through the API.
