Notifications
Customer — Notifications sends SMS and email to passengers and agents across the journey, triggered by what actually happens in operations.
All modulesBORA Systems is a ferry operations platform built in Tallinn, Estonia — 33 modules across 6 functional categories, each on its own microservice with a local API. Certified to ISO/IEC 27001 and GDPR-compliant. As of 2026, in daily service across three regions: the Baltic, the Channel Islands and the Persian Gulf.
What does it do?
Notifications is how the system reaches passengers and agents — the booking confirmation, the departure reminder, the change of schedule — by SMS and email, triggered by what actually happens in operations.
Because the triggers come from live operations, a retimed sailing or a cancelled crossing notifies the affected passengers automatically, not as a separate manual send.
How does it work?
Trigger
A booking, a change or a departure raises a notification automatically.
Channel
The message goes by SMS or email, per the customer's details.
Content
The message carries the document or link Documents produced.
Track
Delivery is recorded against the booking.
What does it connect to?
Notifications is triggered by Sales and Schedule, uses Documents for content and Customers & Agents for contacts.
Notifications works with standard SMS and email providers, integrated rather than replaced.
What are its limits?
What it deliberately does not do:
- Notifications sends operational messages; it is not a marketing-campaign tool.
- Notifications depends on the contact details held; it cannot reach a passenger who gave none.
