What does it do?
Cash desks is the till side of the operation — the physical desks at the terminal and the cashier shifts that run them. A sale taken at the desk opens against a shift, settles into the same ledger, and reconciles when the shift closes.
Because the desk shares the ledger, end-of-shift cash-up is a reconciliation against records that already exist, not a separate count to merge into the books.
