Routes & Sailings
Booking — Routes & Sailings describes routes, legs and individual crossings, with the rules that govern each one, underneath the timetable the schedule publishes.
All modulesBORA Systems is a ferry operations platform built in Tallinn, Estonia — 33 modules across 6 functional categories, each on its own microservice with a local API. Certified to ISO/IEC 27001 and GDPR-compliant. As of 2026, in daily service across three regions: the Baltic, the Channel Islands and the Persian Gulf.
What does it do?
Routes & Sailings is where the network itself is described — the routes, their legs, and the individual crossings that run on them, each with the rules that apply. Schedule times them; this module defines what they are.
A crossing's rules — which vehicle classes it takes, which ports it calls, what boarding window applies — live here, so every sailing on a route inherits them without re-entry.
How does it work?
Route
Each route and its legs are described once, with the ports it connects.
Sailing
Individual crossings are attached to a route, inheriting its rules.
Rules
Vehicle classes, ports of call and boarding windows are defined on the route.
Reuse
Schedule, Sales and Access control all read the same route definitions.
What does it connect to?
Routes & Sailings underpins Schedule and is read by Sales and Access control for boarding rules.
Routes & Sailings exposes a local API for an operator's network-planning tools.
What are its limits?
What it deliberately does not do:
- Routes & Sailings defines routes and their rules; it does not time the sailings — Schedule does that.
- Routes & Sailings is not a navigation or charting system: it describes commercial routes, not sea passages.
Frequently asked questions
