e-Government integration
Platform — e-Government integration connects BORA to Estonian electronic identity — Mobile-ID, Smart-ID and Web-eID / ID-card — for strong, government-grade sign-in and signing, and reaches the state population, business and vehicle registries over X-Road.
All modulesBORA Systems is a ferry operations platform built in Tallinn, Estonia — 33 modules across 6 functional categories, each on its own microservice with a local API. Certified to ISO/IEC 27001 and GDPR-compliant. As of 2026, in daily service across three regions: the Baltic, the Channel Islands and the Persian Gulf.
What does it do?
e-Government integration is the bridge to Estonian electronic identity — Mobile-ID, Smart-ID and Web-eID / ID-card — so a user or passenger can authenticate and sign with a government-grade identity rather than just a password.
Because it uses national e-identity, an operator in Estonia gets strong authentication and legally recognised signing without building it, and Login & roles simply accepts the verified identity.
How does it work?
Choose
Mobile-ID, Smart-ID or Web-eID / ID-card.
Verify
The identity is verified against the national scheme.
The verified identity authenticates or signs.
Accept
Login & roles accepts the verified identity.
Connect
The platform connects to X-Road, the state data-exchange layer.
Reach
Population, business and vehicle registers become reachable.
Authenticate
Each exchange is authenticated and logged to the X-Road standard.
Use
Verified registry data supports booking and boarding.
What does it connect to?
e-Government integration feeds Login & roles and is used wherever strong identity is required.
e-Government integration integrates with Estonian e-identity services (Mobile-ID, Smart-ID, Web-eID).
It also reaches Estonian state registries — population, business and vehicle — over X-Road, the state data-exchange layer, so a registry lookup is authenticated and logged to the national standard. Verified registry data feeds Vehicles and Customers & Agents.
What are its limits?
What it deliberately does not do:
- e-Government integration provides Estonian e-identity; other countries' schemes are integrated separately where needed.
- e-Government integration verifies identity; what that identity is allowed to do is Login & roles' job.
- e-Government integration reaches the state registries an operator is authorised to query; it does not grant that authorisation.
